For weeks now I've thought about how I could make this site a little more user friendly. I love the template but admit that it can get a little confusing. I had posted a survey to find out if a more simple template would make manuvering around and through the site easier, but got no responses. So, I'm deciding today to offer a 'Blog' that will show up in the PAGES section on the right>>>>> The 'Blog' will be anything and everything that has to do with my personal life... work, friends, family, etc. And then this website will be focused on my love of all things 'vintage' (especially WWII articles). This way, those of you who are interested in those things won't have to search through my 'everyday' life to find the things you might be looking for. The link for my 'personal blog' is HERE!

Birthday, Valentines, Love, & Friends

Sunday was my birthday and a week ago Iris had a birthday and next week is my step-daughter Jackie's birthday.

Yesterday the ladies blessed me with this beautiful orchid lei.

Iris gave me this lovely kukui nut lei with beautiful painted flowers. I am so blessed to be able to have a job that is challenging, interesting, and where people around me are so supportive of each other. Thank you Iris for my lei and for the WONDERFUL thermal glass & drink mix. I LOVE all of the goodies :)

What a BUSY week!!!

What a BUSY week!!!

This week was filled with joy and sorrow. We celebrated with our dear friends Admiral Patrick Walsh and his wife, Andy as he left as the Commander of the Pacific Fleet to journey on to retirement. We wish them all the success and happiness in all they do.

We also experienced walking with 'our' Elizabeth as she said goodbye to her loving Father. He went to be with the Lord on Wed. Some of us in the office have lost one or both parents, some of us have not. But Mr Petty's life really did have an impact on us... half way around the world. We are so thankful for him and for his daughter. Our prayers are with them all in Texas.

This is Iris' niece Sydnee Grace who celebrated her 3rd birthday this week. You can see the cute purse that Iris made for Sydnee Grace on my Suzianne's Creative Cottage page.

This weekend I plan to enjoy the Trades, maybe back some old fashioned cookies, watch a good movie, and start another vintage knit pattern.

I'm no longer a Cake Pop virgin!

I'm no longer a Cake Pop virgin!

Until today I had no Idea what a Cake Pop was. I'm ever so grateful to my 'boss' Elizabeth who introduced me to these most delightful pasteries on a stick. :) Where as all the other ladies in the office are 'Cake Pop' coniciers, I am just a newbie to these little bits of Heaven. Thank you Elizabeth for sharing yet another delightful treat!

I just have to say that I've been so blessed in my life to have always been 'dropped' in  some of THE most wonderful places to work... places where 'work' doesn't seem like 'work'. I'm so very thankful that I've found myself in such a place as the ASYMCA!!!

Back to work!

Back to work!

Vacation is over and it's back to work. I work on Pearl Harbor at the Armed Services YMCA. I am the Operation Kid Comfort Co-oridnator. I correspond with active duty family members who request one of our photo quilts. I then print off the photo blocks and in turn send them to our group of volunteer quilters. I love my job and enjoy going to work each day :) The photo above is where I work. The building is on the Historic Sub Base. Every time I pull into this area I think about all that happened 70 years ago... right here!
