What a BUSY week!!!

This week was filled with joy and sorrow. We celebrated with our dear friends Admiral Patrick Walsh and his wife, Andy as he left as the Commander of the Pacific Fleet to journey on to retirement. We wish them all the success and happiness in all they do.

We also experienced walking with 'our' Elizabeth as she said goodbye to her loving Father. He went to be with the Lord on Wed. Some of us in the office have lost one or both parents, some of us have not. But Mr Petty's life really did have an impact on us... half way around the world. We are so thankful for him and for his daughter. Our prayers are with them all in Texas.

This is Iris' niece Sydnee Grace who celebrated her 3rd birthday this week. You can see the cute purse that Iris made for Sydnee Grace on my Suzianne's Creative Cottage page.

This weekend I plan to enjoy the Trades, maybe back some old fashioned cookies, watch a good movie, and start another vintage knit pattern.

Aloha & A Hui Hou AMANDA!

Throughout time Hawaiians have expressed 'aloha' and feelings of 'ohana' (family) in all they do.

'Aloha' means so many things... Hello, Goodbye, Love. It has also been associated with exchanging the 'breath' of another. Which brings the meaning of Aloha to an even more deeper meaning than something that is said so flippantly. When 'Aloha' is spoken from the very depths of the heart and the 'breath of another'  is given, there is a bonding that takes place that nothing can sever. This is the feeling we have for 'our' Amanda.

Today was a joyous day at work. Our dear Amanda has enlisted in the Navy and will be leaving soon to enter into a new phase in her life. While at the ASYMCA, she served the children of active duty military parents with skill, ingenuity, and much love. The children, the parents, and those of us left behind will miss her.

We are so proud of her and we all know she's gonna be GREAT at what she does. Our country is so blessed to have her serving where many can not!

When someone leaves either for a short or long time we often say "A Hui Hou" Which means... until we meet again.
